WESTBOROUGH, MA — A proposed redesign of Fisher Street would add a shared-use path and make a series of roadway and pedestrian safety improvements near two Westborough schools.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation project would cover Fisher Street from Eagle Scout Trail to Church Street, improving connections to Sarah W. Gibbons Middle School and Armstrong Elementary School.
Plans call for an 8-foot-wide shared-use path along the south side of Fisher Street for pedestrians and bicyclists, according to MassDOT.
The project would also include pavement rehabilitation, new granite curbing, reconstructed ADA-compliant curb ramps, pavement markings, signs and traffic-calming measures.
Permanent or temporary easements and other property acquisitions may be needed to complete the work. The town would be responsible for securing the necessary rights on public or private land.
MassDOT will present the project during a design public hearing from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Great Hall in the Forbes Municipal Building, 45 West Main St.
Residents will be able to review the proposal and submit comments.
