Architect Wins Design Competition For Westborough Town Hall Project
A Connecticut architect has won a design competition for his work on Westborough Town Hall.

WESTBOROUGH, MA—Marvin Windows and Doors revealed the winners of its annual Marvin Architects Challenge design competition, including a Westborough project by Brian Humes, Jacunksi Humes Architects, LLC.
The project, Westborough Town Hall, won the Best Remodel/Addition category and was one of six winners selected in the annual competition, which recognizes the outstanding work of architects who use Marvin windows and doors in their projects.
An independent panel of esteemed architects, including Robert M. Gurney, FAIA; Manny Gonzalez, FAIA, NCARB LEED AP, CAASH; and Ted Flato, FAIA, chose the 2017 winners, said the announcement. The judges selected winners based on projects that demonstrated excellence in solution-driven design, classical beauty, innovative use of windows and sustainability.

“Brian Humes successfully revived the Westborough Town Hall to achieve full accessibility with renewed attention to detail throughout every aspect of the project, reviving this historic landmark for the community to enjoy for years to come,” said Dondi Kazukewicz, senior manager, brand communications at Marvin Windows and Doors, in a statement. “We are impressed with how he incorporated Marvin windows and doors into the design vision and are continually inspired by the brilliant work of Jacunski Humes Architects.”
Nearly 100 years old, the Westborough Town Hall was restored to its original stature as a downtown landmark after the municipality authorized a major renovation to address aging conditions and bring new life to it. Given the building’s storied history and civic pride in the project, the design paid careful attention to the detail of the windows, shutters and classical wood trim to provide finishing touches. Marvin was chosen for its ability to match existing historic Ultimate Double Hung and Ultimate Awning windows with maintenance-free exteriors and wood interiors.
