On Thursday November 15th, the BORO Sugar Shack, a candy and gift store located just off the Westborough rotary at 15 East Main Street, will open to the public. Hours will be Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11-4; and Fridays from 11-7. Stop by to pick up some delicious treats or unique gifts, while also supporting Westborough students’ acquisition of real-world job skills.
Public schools are responsible for educating students with complex learning needs from the ages of 3-22. In the fall of 2017, the Westborough Public Schools revamped its post-high school transition program to create the BORO Program (Bridging Over to Right Opportunities). Now the final stage of the project, the BORO Sugar Shack, is set to open.
The Sugar Shack will be an on-site learning lab and training center for Westborough's students with special abilities to learn job-related skills in a real business setting. The Sugar Shack is located in the heart of downtown Westborough, allowing the entire Westborough community to participate in -- and enjoy -- this unique retail experience.
