Crash Between Trash Truck and Pickup Sends One to Hospital With Serious Injuries

An early morning crash involving a truck and a trash-hauling truck happened in Westborough.

WESTBOROUGH, MA—One is being treated for serious internal, but non-life threatening injuries, and the other driver is OK after a two-car crash on Tuesday morning in Westborough.

Around 7:30 a.m., Westborough police responded to a call to the intersection of South Street and Denny Street for a crash between a pickup truck and trash hauling truck.

A 2009 Mack truck owned by E.L. Harvey of Hopkinton Road Westborough faced north in the southbound lane and a 2005 Ford pickup truck faced south in the southbound lane, appearing to be a head on collision.

The pickup truck's driver, Christopher J. Brown, 53, Mill Road, Westborough, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Westborough Fire Dept.He was treated by Westborough Fire Paramedics for serious but non-life threatening internal injuries. He was transported to UMass. Medical Center.

The operator of the trash truck was identified as Matthew Dickie, 38, Murray Ave., Auburn. He was not injured.

The initial investigation by Off. David Holt showed that the trash truck was heading north on South St. A vehicle being operated by a Hopkinton resident was stopped waiting to turn left onto Denny St. The trash truck operator applied his brakes but the vehicle slid to the left striking the pickup truck.

The accident continues to be investigated by the CEMLEC Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Mass. State Police Commercial Vehicle team.
