Cultural Council Seeks Artists and Volunteers for Arts in Common

The Arts in Common Festival is just around the corner, in September.

Submitted by the Westborough Cultural Council

The Westborough Cultural Council is hard at work preparing the 6th annual Arts in Common festival, to be held on the green at Bay State Commons.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival features not only performing arts, but artists and artisans and chefs. Five years ago, as the Bay State Commons was being completed, members of the Cultural Council saw the new green space as a gathering place for a community arts festival that would showcase the cultural diversity that is not always sharply obvious in New England towns.

Thanks to the vision and generosity of sponsors, advertisers, performers and artists, the first “Arts in Common” was a huge success, and has continued to grow. Because of this support, the event continues to be free to all, with no admission fees. In addition to performing and graphic arts, the festival features talented artisans and food vendors who bring an international flavor.
An enthusiastic group of volunteers and sponsors will provide non-stop activities for children throughout the day. In all, it is a delightful way to spend a family Saturday.

The Westborough Cultural Council still has a few openings for performers, artists, artisans and, of course, volunteers to help coordinate activities. Performers have access to 2 excellent venues. As always, audio equipment and tech support are available on request. Artisans pay a modest fee for a pop-up canopy space on the green. For more information and forms, see the Council’s website.
