Schindler's List Survivor Speaking at WHS

Rena Finder's April 26 talk is sponsored by the Westborough Friends of Facing History and Ourselves.

A Schindler’s List survivor will connect the Holocaust to the present during a talk in Westborough next week.

Rena Finder’s talk will address “taking lessons that people learned from the Holocaust and bringing it forward to today, and how people should stand up to bullying,” School Committee Chairman Ilyse Levine-Kanji said.

Finder’s presentation is at 7 p.m. Friday, April 26 at Westborough High School. Tickets will be available at the door: $10 for adults, $5 for students.  For further information, contact Sondra at sbloch@blochne.com or visit http://www.facinghistory.org http://westborough-facinghistory.com.

The Westborough Friends of Facing History and Ourselves is sponsoring the event.

“Unfortunately, people who lived through the Holocaust, there are not very many that are left anymore,” Levine-Kanji said.

The program is being held in conjunction with Westborough High’s  Facing History and Ourselves course.

“I think’s such a different kind of history course than what we took when we were kids,” Levine-Kanji said.

“It’s really something that puts students in the context of a past event, and then tries to get them to try and understand how you might react had you been in that situation.”

Last Monday, the school’s Facing History club organized WHS’ first observance of the National Holocaust Remembrance Day.
