"A lot of races have been adding a kids' element to it. And (the) spring festival, the whole design of it was for families to have a weekend that they could enjoy," Thomas said.

"We're looking to have it be something for everybody. The kids have fun. They watch their parents run, and then the parents in turn encourage the kids to do a lap around the track"

The entrance fee is $5. Parents and kids may run together.

The Boroughs JCC is sponsoring this event, which starts at 10:30 a.m.

The Westboro Tennis and Swim Club is sponsoring the 5K.

Registration starts at 8 a.m., and the race at 9 a.m.

The entry fee is $15 before April 27, and $20 on or after April 28, The proceeds will support the rotary club's charitable efforts.

Organizers hope to draw nearly 200 runners, up from about 165 last year, Thomas said.

"It's a little bit of everything. It can be hilly. It's an easy route, in that you're always taking a left," she said.

And for the second straight year, runners who pre-register their can pick up T-shirt and bib at the Lions Club of Westborough's annual Italian dinner, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at the high school, "as a way to try and encourage more attendance at the Lions Club dinner," Thomas said.
