Golf Tourney Supports 10 to 15 Scholarships
The Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce's 27th Annual School/Business Partnership Golf Tournament is Thursday.

An awards ceremony next year might be the best part of a golf tournament this Thursday.
The Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce’s 27th Annual School/Business Partnership Golf Tournament seeks to raise $15,000, to support 10 to 15 scholarships for graduating high school seniors in Westborough, Northborough, Southborough and Shrewsbury, event Chairman Ben Colonero said Tuesday.
“If you have any illusions about where this country is going, read those bios,” Colonero said.

“We’re in good hands.”
At least 144 golfers are expected to participate in this year’s tourney, at 8 a.m. Thursday at Northborough’s Juniper Hills Golf Course.

The entry fee is $150 for a single, and $600 for a foursome.
The scholarships will range from $500 to $1,000, Colonero said.
“The tournament has just really grown tremendously over the years,” he said.
“It really took off around 15 years ago. We got some major sponsors.”
Fallon Community Health Plan is the title sponsor for the third straight year, he said.
There will be several raffles and a live auction, he said.
Awards will be presented to the first, second and third-place teams, and closest to the pin, and there will be four hole-in-one contests.
The event is a “Florida-style tournament,” in which foursomes will play the “best ball,” Colonero said.
“It’s conducive to a recreational tournament. If you play golf once or twice a year, you can enjoy yourself,” he said.
The chamber of commerce serves Westborough, Northborough, Southborough, Shrewsbury and Grafton.
