(BOSTON) - On Thursday, August 6th, Representative Danielle W. Gregoire (D-Marlborough) joined Mayor Arthur Vigeant, State Representative Carmine Gentile, City Councilors Kathleen Robey,Samantha Perlman and Sean Navin, former City Councilor Peter Juaire, Marlborough’s Veterans Services Officer Mike Hennessy and members of our veteran community to commemorate Purple Heart Day. The ceremony took place at the Hudson entranceway to Marlborough where the installment of a sign designating Marlborough’s status as a Purple Heart City took place. Purple Heart Day is observed annually on August 7th and allows for our communities to pause in reflection to honor and uplift the brave men and women who have been wounded or killed while serving our country.
“I am humbled to be a part of this solemn celebration honoring the service and sacrifice of so many that call Marlborough home,” said Representative Danielle W. Gregoire (D-Marlborough), House Chair of the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight. “As the daughter and granddaughter of veterans, I am grateful that even in these uncertain times, the community had the opportunity to come together to celebrate Marlborough’s Purple Heart City designation. The City of Marlborough has a long history of supporting our veterans, and I am sure this designation will ensure this continues.”
