Hanukkah Begins at Sundown Tuesday, Local Events Planned
A look at what's happening at two local temples during the Festival of Lights, as well as more events throughout the Greater Boston area.

Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, begins at sundown Tuesday and goes until Dec. 24. The Jewish holiday commemorates the story of the Maccabean Revolt against Syrian rulers in present day Israel 2,300 years ago.

Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. - The annual Hanukkah party will feature latkes and sufganyiot. Bring your own chanukiah and candles as well as an article of professional clothing to donate to “Dress for Success.” RSVP at sign-up genius, or by emailing EJ Dotts. Volunteers will also be needed for set-up and clean up.

Friday, Dec. 19, beginning at 6 p.m. - Dinner will take place from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. with Hanukkah songs to follow at 7:15 p.m. A visual Tefilah service will begin at 7:45 p.m. Bring your own menorah. Cost for dinner is $10 per adult and $5 for children under 13 with a $30/family cap. RSVP online by Dec. 16.
