LETTER: Selectman Tim Dodd Won't Seek Re-Election

'I look forward to exploring other avenues through which I can continue my life-long commitment to public service.'

Submitted by Tim Dodd:

Westborough Residents,

Growing up, my parents and grandparents instilled in me a strong passion for public service and commitment to one`s community. Developing a commitment to public service led me to seek out opportunities to serve, which eventually led to my decision to seek office as a selectman in the Town of Westborough.

In May of 2007, the voters of Westborough placed a great deal of trust in me as I became the youngest person to serve in this capacity in the history of the Town. Over the past eight years, I’m proud of the work that I did with my colleagues, volunteers, and town employees, such as the establishment of Veteran`s Freedom Park; Being the first town in the state to create a tax work of program for veterans; Developing policies to better communicate with residents; Providing a high level of transparency through the publication of annual financial charts; creating the Westborough Farmer’s Market; and creating a program to provide financial assistance to seniors.

While being a selectman has been one of the great honors of my life, I have decided to not seek re-election in March of 2016 to pursue other opportunities and give others a chance to serve our great community. In making this announcement now, I want to be able to focus on effectively serving the town through the end of my term.

Thank you to all in the Westborough community who have been supportive of me over the years. It’s been an incredible ride which allowed me to make countless friends and learn a great deal about myself. I look forward to exploring other avenues through which I can continue my life-long commitment to public service. Thank you all for the incredible opportunity to serve my hometown.

Best,

Tim Dodd
