Liquor License Eyed For Bay State Commons
A business has expressed interest in opening a restaurant, as special legislation that would get Westborough an additional liquor license for the shopping center is in the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure.

Bay State Commons may get another restaurant if Westborough can get another liquor license for the shopping center, Town Manager Jim Malloy said Tuesday night.
Town Counsel Gregory Franks told selectmen that special legislation that would allow Westborough to grant one additional liquor license for Bay State Commons is in the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure.
Malloy said that "we have already a business looking at Bay State Commons" that may open a restaurant "if we can get this through the process."

"Sometimes, that takes a year or two years. Sometimes, that means a business goes somewhere else," he said.
Bay State Commons, at 12 Union St., is expected to get another eatery soon, although not one requiring a liquor license.
