Machete Attack In Westborough Leads To Shrewsbury Man's Arrest
The incident happened at the shuttered cinema along Route 9 in Westborough.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — A Shrewsbury man is facing multiple charges following an attack involving a machete at an abandoned cinema along Route 9 this week.
According to Westborough police, officers responded to the former Regal Cinema site at 233 Turnpike Road near 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after a report of a fight between two men.
Only the victim was still at the scene when police arrived. The victim told officers were told that the attacker drove at him and then got out of the car wielding a machete. The attacker slashed the victim's hand, police said.

After sending a description of the attacker's vehicle to local departments, Shrewsbury police spotted the car and pulled the driver over. The attacker was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon and mayhem. He was held on $10,000 bail ahead of a Wednesday arraignment, according to Westborough police.
The victim was taken to UMass Memorial in Worcester due to his injury.
