Man Convicted of Killing Lizzi Marriot Denied Parole on a Lesser Charge

Convicted murderer Seth Mazzaglia, convicted of murdering a Westborough woman, UNH student, was denied parole on a lesser charge.

WESTBOROUGH, MA -- Seth Mazzaglia, who was convicted in June of 2014 of the murder and rape of University of New Hampshire student and Westborough resident Elizabeth ”Lizzi” Marriott was denied parole for another charge associated with the crime.

Mazzaglia asked parole for a witness tampering charged that was related to the murder charges, reports Fosters.

The board required that Mazzaglia be moved to a lower security level and stay on good behavior for six months before he’d be considered for that parole, reports WMUR-TV.

A jury found Mazzaglia guilty of murdering Marriott on the second day of deliberating the case for which he was accused of strangling and raping the former University of New Hampshire freshman.

Mazzaglia was found guilty of first-degree murder while committing felonious sexual assault, second-degree assault, and two counts of conspiracy related to efforts to hide the crime and tamper with evidence and witnesses.

The defense for Mazzaglia, 31, tried to convince jurors that his former girlfriend, Kathryn McDonough, was the one responsible for Marriott’s death after rough but consensual sex. McDonough testified against Mazzaglia and described for jurors how Mazzaglia came up behind Marriott and strangled her and raped her as she lost consciousness.

The trial covered the often graphic details of their relationship, including bondage and sadomasochism, and their scheme to lure Marriott into a sex act after a game of strip poker in their apartment in Dover, N.H. Evidence at trial also reviewed Mazzaglia’s rough plan for a violent escape from jail, his fascination with role-playing games and personas such as “Doomsday” and “Dark Heart.”

Marriott’s body has never been found.
