Obituary: Marion Crosby-Kennedy, 85, of Grafton

She graduated from Westborough High School in 1947.

Marion G. (Bowman) Crosby-Kennedy, 85, of Grafton passed peacefully August 21 2012. Her first husband, Edward J. Crosby passed in 1956 and her second husband, William A. "Bill" Kennedy, Sr. passed in 1989. She leaves her two sons, James M. Crosby and his wife Jan of Worcester and Edward J. "Eddie" Crosby of Grafton with whom she lived; one brother, Norman Bowman of Westborough; two grandchildren, Andrea Merrill and her husband Dan who also lived with Marion, Nicole Crosby and her wife Jennifer; three great grandchildren, Arianna, Andrew and Emilie Merrill; one stepson, John F. Kennedy and his wife Kathy; one step daughter-in-law, Janet Kennedy, several step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her beloved dog, Lucy. Marion was predeceased by one brother, Glendon Boman; three sisters, Helen Woodman, Ethel O'Brien, Irma Lowe; three stepchildren, William A. Kennedy, Jr., Kevin P. Kennedy, Peggy Cadrin and her husband Ray. Marion was born September 13, 1926 in Westborough the daughter of the late Leslie and Grace E. (Lake) Bowman. She was raised in Westborough graduating from Westborough High School in 1947 and then from Whidden Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (Everett MA) in 1951 and attended Boston College continuing her nursing education. She had also lived briefly in Revere and many years in Grafton. Marion had a long career in nursing having been Operating Room Supervisor at Winthrop Community Hospital, an instructor of Surgical Nursing at The Whidden Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and a surgical nurse there. She then was the office nurse for Drs. Cohen and Bachrach both in Worcester and then a nurse at Fallon Healthcare Plantation St. in Worcester until retiring in 1991. She was a parishioner of St. Philip's Church in Grafton, a member and past president of Whidden Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and a member of The MA Operating Room Nurses Association. Marion loved living with her son Eddie as they cared for each other. She also enjoyed the love and company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren along with knitting and gardening. A sincere thank you is offered to the staff at The Life Care Center of Auburn for their care and compassion to Marion and all her family during her stay with them. The Funeral will be Friday, August 24th with people gathering at 9:15 a.m. at THE RONEY FUNERAL HOME, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton, Ma 01536 before taking Marion to her Parish Church of St. Philip at 12 West St., Grafton, MA 01519 to celebrate her Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. She will then be laid to rest in St. Philip's Cemetery in Grafton. All are invited to calling hours Thursday, August 23rd from 5 to 8 p.m. at THE RONEY FUNERAL HOME in North Grafton. A condolence book may be signed and directions are available at:
