Officer Finds Armed Robbery Suspect in Westborough

A Hudson man has been arrested and charged with a robbery that occurred in West Boylston last week, and a chase over the weekend in Berlin.

WESTBOROUGH, MA—Westborough police on Wednesday afternoon arrested a man wanted in an armed robbery incident in West Boylston last week, and a chase in Berlin over the weekend.

On Sept. 9, at approximately 12:50 p.m., Det. Steven Tompkins was patrolling Route 9 looking for a suspect who was involved in an armed robbery last week in West Boylston and a chase over the weekend in Berlin.

Det. Tompkins spotted the suspect's vehicle in the parking lot of the Extra Mart on Route 9 in Westborough.

While in the parking lot of the Extra Mart on Rte. 9 west he observed the wanted suspect inside a vehicle in the parking lot. He was able to take the suspect into custody after a minor scuffle.

The suspect was identified as Matthew G. Alden Jr. age 22 of 15 Rutland St. Hudson. He was taken into custody on a warrant from Marlborough District Court for failing to appear. He was booked at the Westborough Police Department and will be arraigned in WDC on Thursday morning.
