Phone Scam Ringing In Wayland: Police Warning

Hang up!

WAYLAND, MA—We're reminding you, and the police are reminding you. If someone is looking for your personal information, don't give it to them. It likely isn't legitimate.

The "IRS scam" has been reported in several surrounding towns, where the caller pretends to be from the government and demands payment or the caller will "go to jail."

In Wayland, a resident recently reported that they received a call on Tuesday, April 3, that "someone called from a pharmacy looking for personal information."

"As a reminder, please do not give out personal information to anyone over the phone unless you know them," wrote police.
