PHOTOS: Westborough PD K-9 Officer Gets Bullet Resistant Vest

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough's K-9 officer, Lukas, will be a bit safer on the job thanks to a donation of a bullet resistant vest. The vest was a donation from Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog. The vet was given to Lukas at no cost to his owners.

Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog works to provide bullet resistant vests for all K-9's in the state. A bulletproof K9 vest ranges from $1006 to $2400 each. Many law enforcement agencies are unable to fund vests for K-9 officers. The organization also offers funding for training and funding for departments to hire their own K-9 officer.
