Releasing your hips - featured in my next Sun and Shade Yoga class

Anjaneyasana  and Parsvottanasana make a lovely pair to encourage a natural curve to your lower back.

Lunges (Anjaneyasana) stretch out your hip flexors. When hip flexors are tight they pull down on the front of the hip. This may cause the lower back to over arch. Lunges are an excellent stretch to do in the middle of the day especially, if you have been sitting all morning.

The One-leg Extended pose (Parsvottansana) stretches the hamstrings. When hamstrings are tight they pull down on the bottom of your hip bones. This may cause your lower back to elongate erasing the natural curve.

Come to class this Wednesday at 11:30a at Sohum Yoga and Meditation Studio (Suite 108 B, 30 Lyman St, Westboro) and join me for a plethora of lunges and one-leg stretches. A few variations, some with twists.
