Surf Rock Band to Make Arts in Common Debut

Tsunami of Sound includes Westborough resident Jamie Huggins, on bass.

When bassist Jamie Huggins of Westborough was recruited for Tsunami of Sound, two of his bandmates "gave me a CD and said, 'Learn all these songs.'"

Five years and one CD later, Westborough residents will hear this surf rock band at Bay State Green later this month.

And, Huggins says, it's time for another CD.

Westborough's fourth annual Arts in Common is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 at Bay State Green. The Westborough Cultural Council, the town, and individuals and businesses sponsor the festivities.

Tsunami of Sound will be among the musical acts, performing originals and cover tunes. It's the band's first Arts in Common appearance, Huggins says.

Six songs are on the band's CD, "Wet Sounds."

"We really need to get back in the studio, because we have a lot of originals," Huggins says.

Tsunami of Sound features Huggins on bass, David Esposito on guitar, Bob Damiano on guitar and keys, and Rick Sanger on drums.

Huggins says Sanger introduced him to Esposito, which led to the band forming.

Tsunami of Sound's influences include such bands as Los Straitjackets and Link Wray, Huggins notes.

"It's really fun music, and all ages seem to connect with it," Huggins says.

"It's high powered."
