Town Of Westborough: Congratulations To The August 2021 Employee Of The Month - Cela Dorr!

The Employee Excellence Award committee is pleased to present this award to Cela Dorr in the Town Manager/Select Board Department. 

Cela “hit the ground running” as a full time employee during a time of tremendous upheaval in an office in transition.  With a chaotic and accelerated learning curve, she jumped into all of her responsibilities as well as assisted in some of the overburdened, backlogged areas that were not part of her job.  Her background in education has facilitated the office’s many interactions with the School Department and her versatility has been “…a huge asset to her department, enabling coverage “…whenever and wherever needed”.  “She personifies a “can-do” willingness to jump in and lend a hand – regardless of how difficult a situation may be.”

“Having grown up in Westborough, she seems to know everyone, greeting…with a friendly warmth and familiarity…Town seniors and School Dept. retirees...sharing reminiscences of Westborough’s past” and old school memories. Her shared history with many Town employees makes for amiable “extra-effort-help when needed” relationships.  “Always friendly and welcoming, she is never cranky or ill-tempered, shows respect for everyone at all times and handles the most erasable people she encounters with a genuine effort to diffuse the situation and be of help.”

She is clever, with an easy sense of humor, quick with a joke and readily engages almost anyone in a session of good-natured mutual ribbing and “…as much enjoys laughing as making others laugh.”   But beneath the jovial personality, Cela is a serious, hard worker - kind and considerate and consistently “…embodies a sympathetic respect for the feelings of others…”
