VCA Charities’ Annual “Pennies for Pets” Campaign
Raises more than $1,700 for Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton

VCA Animal Hospitals, the nation’s largest animal hospital network, and its nonprofit partner organization, VCA Charities, together have successfully raised more than $570,000 to support regionally selected companion animal welfare organizations in the annual company-wide Pennies for Pets campaign.
From April to June 2019, seven VCA hospitals in Central Massachusetts and Boston collected donations by encouraging clients to round up their transaction amounts to the nearest dollar or donate online. The local campaign raised $1,704.02 for Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton, one of the most impactful animal welfare organizations in central Massachusetts. The donation will enable them to continue to provide medical care to pets they support.
“We are thankful for the generosity of VCA’s clients across the country who have demonstrated their generosity by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar and helping us achieve our ambitious fundraising goal during this year’s successful campaign,” said Ryne Meadors, VCA Charities director. “Donated small change resulted in raising more than half a million dollars that will directly benefit community-based animal welfare organizations. This donation is part of the $570,000 raised across the country through our Pennies for Pets campaign.”

“We want to thank all of those clients, donors and staff for helping to make this year’s Pennies for Pets a success here in Central Massachusetts,” said Cara Casamasima, Regional Operations Director. “These funds are helping our valued animal welfare partner groups improve lives in our community.”
“VCA Animal Hospitals and VCA Charities have been such supportive partners, enabling us to care for and find loving homes for so many more dogs and cats,” said Baypath Humane Society Executive Director Elizabeth Jefferis. “We’re honored to have the strong support of the VCA family. They have been by our side in so many ways, from enabling us to perform low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to providing financial support for our animals. These funds make all the difference, particularly for animals with special medical needs.”
