Donald Trump visited Worcester to rally on Wednesday night, packing the 10,500-seat DCU Centre, with lines still streaming in to the venue while he was wrapping up. For many, it was a surprising turnout of support in a staunchly democratic state, and city.
Attempts to encourage opponents to boycott the rally (by reserving a ticket and not attending) clearly did not work.

Also surprisingly, the protests were at a minimum - a few small groups chanting outside, and three interruptions during his speech.
Trump slid through a familiar slew of topics: immigration, healthcare, the economy, his worth, China, building a wall.

Some Trump comments from the rally:
“In one way, I hate saying it, but so far, I have spent less money and I have the best results. I’m leading with Hispanics in Nevada, and leading with African Americans to a point where no one has ever gotten.”
“We will build a wall and it’ll be a big one and it’ll be up there, and … wow … it’ll be as big as a wall can be.”
“They are so misguided. They just don’t get it,” in response to an “immigrant lives matter” protest during the speech.
“You’re going to be so proud. I am going to win so much.
“We will have a military so big, nobody will mess with us.”
“You wouldn’t even be talking about illegal immigration if I didn’t bring it up. I want people to come in, but they have to come in legally.”
“If I win, lots of things will happen. Illegal immigrants are out of here before we even build the wall.”
“Trade is my biggest point right now.”
“I am the only one who tells the truth and I’m not doing it for myself. I had a really nice life, but now I am going around from place to place. We don’t have much time left. The country can be greater than it’s ever been.”
“He’s not a mastermind. He’s a scum. You have to stop calling these people [terrorists] masterminds.”
“We’re predictable. I want to be unpredictable.”
“This guy was not suited to be president of the United States,” referring to Barack Obama
“I mention food stamps and a guy who is seriously overweight goes crazy,” in response to heckler.
