WCLT Earth Day Thanks!

Thank You Letter: WCLT Earth Day Litter Cleanup, Westborough Community Land Trust

To the Editor:

On Saturday, April 22, Westborough became a cleaner and more nature-friendly town. The annual Earth Day Litter Cleanup sponsored by the Westborough Community Land Trust brought out a record-breaking 240 hearty folks who cleaned up over 400 bags of trash, despite drizzly weather. They were then treated to our first ever Earth Day Volunteers’ Picnic at the Bay State Commons Green.

WCLT would like to thank the many individuals and families who put aside their other obligations to help with this monumentally successful effort. We would also like to recognize the following organizations and businesses that sent cleanup teams: Armstrong School, Cub Scout Pack 33, Explorer Post 85, Westborough Civic Club, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Westborough High School National Honor Society and Student Council, CCR Wealth Management, Crossfit Prototype, Energy Federation Inc., E.L. Harvey, EMSeal, Koman Government Solutions, and the Westborough Fire Department. We would also like to thank the businesses who made donations: Arturo’s Ristorante for the pizza; Dunkin’ Donuts on Route 9 for the coffee, munchkins, and cookies; and Roche Bros. and both Westborough Stop & Shop stores for the gift cards that provided fruit, vegetables, and beverages for everyone. Thank you to Mugford’s Flower Shoppe for providing a bouquet to every volunteer! And finally, thank you to the Westborough Department of Public Works for donating the trash bags and collecting the full bags. This wonderful day was both productive and lots of fun, as neighbors met neighbors and everyone worked together to beautify our town! And please, don't litter!
