Cook Chili For Appalachia: Local Festival Benefits Service Project
Think you're the local chili king? You can provide it, and help a Westborough-based program that fixes homes in Appalachia.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — You can warm up with a hot bowl of chili this month while helping fix homes in Appalachia.
The Westborough Appalachia Service Project will hold its annual chili festival and contest in January, inviting local chefs to enter their best efforts, and inviting chili-lovers to sample the goods.
The annual event benefits the ASP program, which sends local volunteers to Appalachia to make repairs and upgrades to homes, mending roof leaks, structural issues and more. The program began in the 1990s, and is now a joint effort between the First United Methodist Church and St. Luke's Parish.
