Westborough Civic Club Annual Fishing Challenge
10th year running - free and fun for all!!

Tomorrow, Saturday 6th May Westborough Civic Club will be sponsoring their free annual Fishing Challenge at Sandra Pond, Minute Man Park, 91 Upton Road. This will be the tenth year of the club fully funding this event, fishing times being 9am to 1pm. Registration is free on the day and open to all ages – with multiple prizes awarded for longest fish in 3 separate age groups. With no fishing license required for this specific occasion and persons new to the pastime able to take advantage of loaner rods and reels (subject to availability) event organizer William ‘Bill’ Kohler is hoping that the currently predicted Saturday morning dry spell in-between recent rain showers will be enough to ensure this year’s turnout surpasses even that of the past, when up to 150 people have taken part in any one year. The Club does ask that young children be accompanied by an adult (who can also take part!). Food and drinks are available for purchase throughout the event and even bait is available on the day. Participants get a free commemorative T-shirt while stocks last - with this years Fishing Challenge logo having been designed by Esther Anthony, 5th grade student at Mill Pond School.
The Civic Club is able to sponsor this event by the efforts of its volunteer membership and funds raised at the annual Tree Sale held in town. Applications are welcomed at any time from prospective new members. The club can be contacted at facebook.com/westboroughcivicclub or via the web at westborocivicclub.com
