The Westborough Cultural Council is accepting grant applications on line for organizations, schools and individuals to apply for funds supporting a range of community cultural activities, including concerts, exhibits, lectures, performances, workshops, festivals, and student field trips.
The grant application and information is on the Westborough Cultural Council website at: www.westboroughculturalcouncil.org. Applications must be completed online by October 15, 2018. Westborough is a part of the Local Cultural Council Program (LCC), the most extensive system of grassroots support for the arts, sciences and humanities in the nation. There are 329 local cultural councils in Massachusetts; collectively, they distribute more than $3 million a year in grant monies to support cultural activities in cities and towns in the state.

More than $14,000 was awarded by the Westborough Cultural Council in 2018. Awarded grants include: Assabet Valley Mastersingers, Chamber Orchestra Metrowest, Charles River Sinfonietta, Eine Kleine Konsort, Greater Worcester Opera, programs at the Westborough Public Library and Westborough Historical Society, cultural dance and music performances, Shir Joy Chorus, Symphony Pro Musica, Westborough Community Band, Westborough Community Chorus, Westborough Community Land Trust’s live animal program, and Cultural Festivals, Literacy Day, Art and Writing program, Field Trips and a Foreign Language Assembly in our schools.
The Westborough Cultural Council receives a large part of its funding from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, but also depends on and welcomes donations and grants from local individuals, businesses and corporations. Additionally, the Town of Westborough provides funds through the annual Town budget to supplement the Commonwealth grant to provide additional local support. Proceeds from the annual Arts in Common Festival, sponsored by the Westborough Cultural Council are also used to fund grants.
