Natick Fire Chief Michael Lentini retired this month, opening up a search for his replacement.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A Westborough Fire Department deputy chief got a big promotion on Wednesday.
Deputy Chief Jason Ferschke was picked by the Natick Select Board to become that town's new fire chief. Former Natick chief Michael Lentini notified the town in August that he would retire at the end of his contract this month.
"Congratulations to Westborough Deputy Fire Chief Jason Ferschke for being unanimously selected tonight as Fire Chief for the Town of Natick. We are very proud of you Deputy and look forward to seeing all of your future successes," the Westborough Fire Department wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Ferschke was selected from a pool of three finalists including Natick Deputy Chief Daniel Dow and Weymouth Deputy Fire Chief Thomas Murphy. Fifteen candidate applied for the job, and the finalists were chosen by a town committee.
Ferschke joined the Westborough Fire Department in 2007 as a fireman, and earned a promotion to the deputy chief role in November 2016.
