The project is part of a broader renovation that includes upgrades to HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression and electrical systems, along with structural repairs and redesigned interior spaces.
The library was also awarded $12,500 in state funding through a legislative earmark included in the Fair Share Amendment budget, according to Sen. Michael Moore (D-2nd Worcester).
The repair project is meant to address major building systems, including the roof, HVAC, electrical and network systems, which the library has described as at or past the end of their useful life, according to the library’s repair project FAQ. The library’s project page says the work remains on track for a fall 2026 return to West Main Street.
