Westborough Lions Announce Winners of Peace Poster Contest

Satwik Dash of the Mill Pond School Wins 1st Place

On Wednesday, November 15th, the Westborough Lions Club announced that Mill Pond student, Satwik Dash, was the 1st Place winner of this year’s Peace Poster Contest: Dare to Dream. Akshadha Raj, also of the Mill Pond School, placed 2nd in the competition. Shobhana Ramesh Kumar Jayachitra of Gibbons Middle School was recognized at the 3rd Place winner.

All twenty-one submitted posters were judged by a local, professional artist on Originality, Artistic Merit, and Expression of the Theme. Westborough students ages 11-13 were allowed to participate. The posters were displayed at the Westborough Library for viewing from October 27th thru November 7th. The posters are still available for viewing at the following Vimeo link: https://vimeo.com/878835087?share=copy.

Satwik’s winning poster will now move on to the District 33A competition, where it will compete against posters submitted from the other forty-four Lions Clubs in Worcester County. The contest is part of Lions Clubs International’s focus on positive youth development. There are a total of four levels of competition beginning with the local club competition, the District 33A competition, the State contest, and finally the International Competition, where the winner receives a $5,000 prize and a trip to the United Nations. We wish Satwik the best of luck as his poster competes at the higher levels! The Westborough Lions are very proud of the students who entered the contest and wish them much success in their artistic pursuits.
