Westborough Lions Club Announces Winners of Peace Poster Contest
Gibbons Middle School 7th Grader Wins Contest
Sophia Winsch, a 7th grade student at Gibbons Middle School, has won the 2018 Westborough Lions Club Peace Poster Contest. Diya Deliwala was 1st Runner-Up. Sophia and Diya are shown in the above photos with Westborough Lion Susan Ash, who was this year's Peace Poster Chairperson. The theme of this year's posters was 'Kindness Matters'. Children ages eleven thru thirteen were eligible to participate. There are four levels of competition: Local, District, State, and International. Prize money is awarded at each level with the International winner receiving $5,000 and a trip to a special award ceremony. An additional 23 Merit Award winners will receive $500 and a certificate of achievement. Sophia's entry moves on to the Massachusetts Lions District 33A competition, where the winner will be announced on November 29th. The Westborough Lions Club is very proud of both Sophia and Diya and all of the students who participated in this year's Westborough contest, and showed us how 'Kindness Matters'. We wish good luck to Sophia as she moves on in the competition!
