Westborough Lions Host 5th Annual Rubber Duck Derby
Event Raises Funds for Scholarship and Campership
The Westborough Lions Club is hosting its 5th annual Rubber Duck Derby on Saturday, May 3rd, at 11 a.m. at the Mill Pond Spillway on Mill Road in Westborough. Funds raised during the event will be used to fund a $1,000 scholarship for a Westborough High School senior, as well as for a $1,500 overnight campership for a local child with Type 1 diabetes to the Barton Center for Diabetes Education in N. Oxford, MA. Ducks can be 'adopted' as follows: 1 for $10, 3 for $25, and more in increments of 3. Specialty Ducks may also be adopted that reflect the adopters occupation, hobbies, or interests: 1 for $30. This year, the club has added a special incentive. Folks adopting $50 or more of ducks will be entered into a special drawing for 2 tickets for a Boston Duck Tour.
The event will also feature a 'Fancy Hat' contest for all who attend the race. Adults and children should come to the race with a creative or fashionable hat. Prizes will be awarded for an outstanding adult and child's hat. Come decked out in your finest at this 'KenDucky Derby', just like at the real Kentucky Derby that will be run later in the day.
