Westborough Lions Offer $1000 Scholarship for Graduating Seniors
Annual Rubber Duck Derby Proceeds Fund Scholarship
Applications are now being accepted for the Westborough Lions Club Scholarship for a Westborough resident graduating from high school this year. Students from Westborough High School, Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, private high schools, and home-schooled students are welcome to apply. The scholarship can be used for all post-secondary education and will be awarded based on the following criteria: 50% Community Service, 35% Overcoming Adversity, and 15% Academics. Please visit the Club Projects page at http://westboroughlionsclub.org/ for the application. Deadline to apply is April 15, 2024.
The scholarship is funded by the Westborough Lions Club Annual Rubber Duck Derby that will be held this year on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Mill Pond Spillway on Mill Road in Westborough. This is a fun family event and the public is welcome to attend to cheer the ducks on and enjoy the race – there will be many surprises in store!
Help fund the scholarship by “adopting” a duck; 1 duck for $10, 3 for $25, and more in increments of 3. Specialty Ducks representing your profession, hobbies, or interests are also available at $30 each. The ducks will be simultaneously cast into the Spillway and will race to the finish line. The first place duck earns their adopter $500, second place duck earns $250, and third place duck earns $100.
