Westborough Looking For New Town Manager
Westborough's Town Manager, James Malloy will be stepping down to accept a position in Lexington.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough is looking for a new town manager. The current town manager, James Malloy, is planning to step down after 10 years in the position to accept a similar position in Lexington. Malloy became Westborough’s town manager in 2009 after the retirement of Henry Danis.
The town's Board of Selectmen have formed a Town Manager Search Committee to fill the position. The town will be using Municipal Resources Inc to help them in the search process. The town is holding a community input meeting on May 1 to include residents in the search process. The meeting will be at the Fire Department Meeting Room at 42 Milk Street from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Town Manager will oversee an operating budget for FY 2020 of approximately $114 million dollars (combined School and Town) with 188 town side FTEs. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in a related field and a minimum of seven years of experience in public administration, with a minimum of five years served in a senior management capacity or an equivalent combination of education and relevant management experience. The Town of Westborough Charter does require the Manager to live in Westborough or one of the six contiguous communities within one year of appointment.
