Westborough Loses 2 Veterans

Mary A. Dunleavy, 92, of Westborough, passed away on Saturday, May 26. Born in Everett, she graduated from Boston College earning a bachelors degree and then a masters degree from Northeastern University. She also graduated from the Boston City Hospital School of Nursing and attended Simmons College earning a certificate in Public Health. During WW II, she served with the US Army as an Army Nurse attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. Mary worked as registered nurse at Boston City Hospital and later as a Principal of Practice Nurse at Westborough State Hospital prior to her retirement. She was a communicant of , a member of the Women of St. Luke’s, a member of the Stowell Parker Post American Legion and served as the Grand Marshall at the Memorial Day Parade in Westborough several years ago. Mary is survived by one brother, Ret. Admiral Richard Dunleavy of Virginia Beach; one sister, Marguerite Mills of Worcester; a dear friend, Tamara Bethel residing at Compass at Golden Pond in Hopkinton and many nieces and nephews. She was buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. Dr. Edwin J. Henrie, 76, of Westborough, formerly of Swansboro, NC and Newport, RI, died May 21. He was a 1958 graduate of Pennsylvania State University and received his MD from Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital in 1962. Henrie served as a surgeon in the US Navy from 1963 until 1975, reaching the rank of Commander. He then went into private practice at the Aquidneck Medical Center in Newport, RI, where he remained until 1990. In 1992, he moved to North Carolina, serving at the Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune. During his time on active duty, he served in Vietnam and Kuwait, receiving the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. He leaves his wife, Peggy; daughter Kathleen Ross and husband Amory of Newport, RI; son E. Hunterson Henrie, II and wife Leslie Wilcott-Henrie of Lexington, MA; and stepchildren Daintria McClure, Winsor Baker, Richard Baker, and Wendy Scott. He is also survived by his grandsons Amory Ross, Jr., Tyler Ross, Alexander Henrie and Conor Henrie and eight step-grandchildren. Henrie was interred with full military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on June 7 at 1 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to the Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850, or online at www.fisherhouse.org.
