Westborough Man Identified As Victim In I-495 Crash
Samuel Ibikunle, 72, died after he was hit by a wrong-way-driver early Wednesday morning.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — A 72-year-old Westborough man was the victim in a fatal wrong-way crash along I-495 this week.
Samuel Ibikunle died after a Ford van driver going south in the northbound lanes collided with Ibikunle's sedan near exit 58 just before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. The van driver, Devin Arroyo, 29, of Taunton, was charged with operating under the influence after the crash.
Moments after the collision between Ibikunle and Arroyo, a semitrailer slammed into Ibikunle's car after the driver, a 41-year-old Providence man, was unable to stop. Ibikunle died at UMass Memorial in Worcester after the crash, police said. Arroyo was treated for minor injuries, and the semitrailer driver was not injured, police said.

The three-vehicle collision shut down the northbound lanes of I-495 until around 5 a.m. Wednesday.
