Westborough Names February Excellent Employee

Sherrie Widdis in the Conservation Department is this month's honoree for the Employee Excellence award.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough honored an employee for the February Employee Excellence Award. This month, the award went to Sherrie Widdis in the Conservation Department. Widdis is the only employee in the Conservation Department and is tasked with running the department.

In the town's statement about Widdis' role, it said, "She continues to explore innovative ways to integrate conservation issues and practices into addressing the needs of the public and fellow Town departments."

Recently, Widdis tackled the issue of pinpointing hiking trail locations and naming them to make them accessible to emergency vehicles. She created a computerized trail map and approached the Conservation Commission to arrange the consideration of naming trails.

"In spite of being inundated with her newly added responsibilities, she continues to rise to every challenge with pleasant optimism and professional diligence," the town said.
