Westborough Police Urge 'Extreme Caution' During Trick-Or-Treat Event
Lots of children and adults will converge Tuesday in downtown Westborough for an annual Halloween event.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Drivers in Westborough should try to avoid the downtown area Tuesday afternoon with the town's annual trick-or-treating event set to take place.
The Main Street Trick o' Treat event will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, attracting lots of costumed kids. Attendees will get an early taste of Halloween, with local government buildings and businesses giving out candy.
"Drivers should be advised to avoid or use extreme caution in the downtown area ... in order to create a safe environment for the dramatic increase in pedestrian traffic that's expected to accompany the Main Street Trick o' Treat event," Westborough police said in a traffic bulletin.

Dozens of businesses located along seven downtown streets will take part in the event. As many as 700 people have participated in previous events, adding lots of pedestrian traffic to an already tricky downtown street configuration.
On top of the trick-or-treaters, Tuesday evening will be gray and drizzly, according to forecasts. Sunset will be around 6 p.m.
