Westborough Scout Organizes CPR Training Course
A Westborough Girl Scout is organizing a CPR training course to earn her Gold Award.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Meghan O’Keefe, Westborough Girl Scout, has organized a community CPR training class as part of her Gold Award. The classes will allow the community to learn the basics of hands only CPR. The classes will be taught by Janet Read, a Red Cross CPR Instructor from Westborough. Participants 11 years old and older will learn about the importance of CPR and will practice on CPR dummies, receiving a certificate of participation at the end of the class.
According to the American Heart Association, 90 percent of people who have a cardiac arrest incident outside of the hospital do not survive, due to a lack of CPR. By training members of the community, should an incident occur, there is a greater chance of someone being able to respond and help the victim, increasing their chance of survival. The use of hands-only CPR in these situations can help double or triple the victim’s chance of survival.
The classes will be run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1:30–2:30 pm on Saturday, Feb, 27 in the Westborough Public Library Meeting Room. Classes will be filled at 30 participants. To preregister, contact westboroughgscpr@gmail.com.
