Westborough Says 'No' To Pot Stores: Town Election Results

Voters cast ballots for several candidates, question on marijuana, in March 7 town election.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — On Tuesday, March 7, Westborough voters went to the polls to cast votes for several positions, including two contested races, as well as a vote on prohibiting marijuana businesses from operating in town.

Polls were open in Westborough from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Polling locations: All voting takes place at the Westborough High School gym, 90 West Main St.

Board of Selectmen:

  • Ian P. Johnson - 1,247 votes

Planning Board: (two seats open)

  • Hazel W. Nourse (one-year-term) - 1,211 votes
  • James N. Ball (five-year-term) - 1,218 votes

Moderator

  • John E. Arnold - 1,281 votes

School Committee (Two Seats Open):

  • David Crandall - 730 votes (W)
  • Lisa R. Edinberg - 1,105 votes (W)
  • Neil L. Feldman - 667 votes

Town Clerk:

  • Wendy L. Mickel - 1,296 votes

Trustees of Public Library (3 open positions):

  • Patricia J. Fontes - 1,050 votes (W)
  • Dorothy S. Mello - 1,053 votes (W)
  • William E. Linnane - 793 votes (W)
  • Eric D. Waite - 605 votes

Question on Marijuana Business: A yes win with 1,292 to 294 will prohibit the operation of all licensed marijuana-related businesses, "including cultivators, testing facilities, product manufacturers and retailers." The vote moves to Town Meeting for a bylaw change.
