Westborough Warehouse Fire Causes $150K in Damage

No one was hurt during the fire but the building and trailer were badly damaged.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A warehouse fire in Westborough was extinguished in minutes by the fire department on Wednesday but left thousands of dollars of damage in its path. The fire department said no one was hurt during the blaze. Damage to the building is estimated at $150,000.

The department got the call about a warehouse fire on Otis Street at 6:52 p.m. In a statement, the department said they had the blaze under control by 7 p.m. with the help of the Northborough and Southborough fire departments.

Fire and smoke spewed out of a loading dock in the building as well as from a trailer unit and the outside of the building. Firefighters had to use a mobile ventilation unit to get the smoke out of the building.

Officials deemed the cause of the fire to be unintentional and caused by a nearby welding operation. A non-criminal fire code violation was issued to the company, Overhead Door Company of Providence, RI for welding without a permit.
