Westborough's Lake Chauncey Closed Due To Algae
The Board of Health described the bacteria as looking like "pea soup" and dangerous for humans and pets.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough's Lake Chauncy closed on Monday after officials found cyanobacteria or algae in the water. The lake could be closed for the rest of the summer as the town works with the state department of health to clean the water.
The algae was described by the Board of Health as looking like "pea soup." It's dangerous to humans and pets, so the board of health is warning residents not to ingest the water and to wash it off if they come in contact with it.
The town is urging residents with questions to contact the Recreation Department or the Westborough Board of Health (508-366-3045).
