Who Should Join the Westborough School Committee?

The newest Westborough School Committee member should be ... who?

Bruce Tretter's resignation last week leaves the board one member short.

The school committee's policy manual notes the process for filling vacancies.

"As provided in the law, the School Commitee will notify the Selectmen that a vacancy has been created within 30 days after it has occurred. After one week's notice has been given by the Committee to the Selectmen, so that voters of the town may have the opportunity to state their candidacy, the two governing bodies will meet to fill the vacancy by roll call vote," according to the policy.

Presumably, selectmen will soon begin accepting resumes and letters of interest to serve until the March 2014 annual town election, when the remaining two years of Tretter's term will be on the ballot.
