WHS Boys LAX Wins Tourney Opener
Softball, boys tennis and girls tennis also have state tournament contests over the next few days. Here's the rundown.

The Westborough High School varsity boys lacrosse team won its state tournament opener Wednesday, advancing to the quarter final round.
The Rangers defeated host Tyngsborough, 13-3, in a 2013 Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Boys Lacrosse Central Division 2 first round game, according to the tournament website.
Westborough's quarter final game has not been scheduled. The Rangers will play the winner of today's Leominster-St. John's first round game.

The quarter final winner advances to the semi finals.
Westborough finished the regular season with a 10-8 record. The Rangers are seeded ninth in the 17-team tournament. Tyngsborough (14-5) was seeded eighth. St. John's (15-3) is seeded first. Leominster (9-9) is seeded 17th.

Westborough, Tyngsborough and St. John's all received preliminary round byes.
Meanwhile, the Westborough High girls golf team placed third at the North/Central/West 2013 Girls Golf District Championship, held Wednesday at the, according to the tournament website.
Westborough's team score was 416. Wachusett was first, with a team score of 373. Notre Dame Academy was second, with a team score of 394.
Marissa Goebel led the Rangers with a qualifying 89.
Also scoring for Westborough were: Sadie Smith, 108; Stephanie Huang, 109; Molly Burke, 110; Isla Duckett, 118; and Yaeeun Ji, 119.
Three other Westborough High teams have post-season contests this week.
At 2:30 p.m. today, the varsity softball team travels to St. Peter-Marian for a 2013 MIAA Softball Central Division 1 first round game.
The winner advances to the quarter final round at 2 p.m. Saturday at Nashoba.
Westborough (10-10) is seeded tenth in the 11-team tournament. St. Peter-Marian (12-8) is seeded seventh. Nashoba (15-5) is seeded second, and received a first round bye.
At 3 p.m. Friday, the boys tennis team hosts St. Peter-Marian in an MIAA Boys Team Tennis Central Division 1 quarter final match.
The winner advances to the semi final round at 3 p.m. Monday against Friday's Tantasqua-Shrewsbury quarter final winner.
The Rangers (14-2) are seeded second in the nine-team bracket. St. Peter-Marian (9-6) is seeded seventh. Tantasqua (10-6) is seeded sixth. Shrewsbury (13-3) is seeded third. All four teams received first round byes.
The Westborough High School girls tennis team, meanwhile, is seeded first in the MIAA Girls Team Tennis Central Division 1 tournament.
The Rangers (14-2) received a first round bye, and will open the tourney with a quarter final at home at 3 p.m. Saturday. They'll play the winner of Friday's Clinton-Marlborough first round match.
Clinton (10-6) is seeded ninth in the 11-team tournament. Marlborough (10-6) is seeded eighth.
Saturday's winner advances to the semi final round, at 3 p.m. Monday. They'll play the winner of Saturday's Nashoba-Wachusett quarter final. Nashoba (12-4) is seeded fourth, while Wachusett (13-5) is seeded fifth.
