WHS Girls Tennis Reaches Sectional Finals

The Rangers boys tennis team will compete for a spot in their sectional finals today.

The Westborough High School girls tennis team advanced to the MIAA Girls Team Tennis Central Division 1 tournament finals with a 4-1 semi final win over visiting Wachusett on Monday, according to the MIAA website.

The Rangers advance to the sectional final at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's against Monday's Shrewsbury-St. Peter-Marian semi final winner.

Wachusett advanced to the semi final by defeating Nashoba, 3-2, in a quarter final on Saturday.

The Rangers (14-2) received a first round bye. Clinton (10-6) is seeded ninth in the 11-team tournament. Nashoba (12-4) is seeded fourth. Wachusett (13-5) is seeded fifth. Shrewsbury (14-2) is seeded second. St. Peter-Marian (14-2) is seeded third.

Meanwhile, the Westborough High School boys tennis team hosts Shrewsbury in an MIAA Boys Team Tennis Central Division 1 semi final match, at 3 p.m. today.

The winner advances to the sectional finals at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Algonqui. They'll play the winner of today's St. John's-Wachusett semi final.

The Rangers (14-2) are seeded second in the nine-team bracket. Shrewsbury (13-3) is seeded third.
