Elsie Kaye Gift Shop &amp; Artisan Studio In 2009, on a whim, Holly Kenny took a flameworking class and learned to make glass beads. This sparked a love of glass art and led to the launch her business, Elsie Kaye Gift Shop and Art Studio in downtown Westborough. Holly currently teaches flameworking and metalworking at her studio and is on the faculty at the New England Craft Program in Williamsburg, MA. Holly loves the fluidity and movement of glass and enjoys incorporating metals, enamels and other elements that can change the texture and appearance of the glass. As a result, much of her work takes on an abstract, organic feel. Her work, under the name Elsie Kaye Glassworks, can be found at more than 50 boutiques and galleries across the country. Holly is passionate about promoting emerging local artists by selling their work at her retail shop, as well as helping to foster connections with new and existing businesses in the local area. She is an active member of her community, where she has lived with her husband and two children since 2006.

Westborough High School Principal John Smith will become Dover-Sherborn High School's headmaster. Smith said Thursday night he has signed a three-year contract with Dover-Sherborn school officials. "I really liked everything I saw from the community," he said. Dover-Sherborn High School has about 650 students, which presents "an opportunity to personalize learning," Smith said. "I really liked the size," he said. In December, Westborough School Superintendent Marianne O'Connor announced that Smith would resign at the end of this school year to pursue "other interests in the field of education." Smith has served as Westborough High principal for six years. Last month, O'Connor said that longtime WHS Assistant Principal Brian Callaghan will become the school's principal on July 1, pending contract negotiations.
