Wrong-Way Pike Crash Kills 1, Injures 6 UPDATE
The police detailed what happened in a four-car overnight wreck in Southborough.

A 28-year-old Rutland man is dead and others injured after a wrong-way crash late Monday night on the Mass. Pike in Southborough, State Police said.
The crash was initially reported by police as being in Westborough.
The man who died was the one driving the wrong way, eastbound on the westbound side. His 2007 Ford Focus side-swiped a 2013 Chevy Equinox before hitting a 2007 Dodge Charger and 2010 GMC Terrain head-on. Four were sent to the hospital.

Police responded to the crash at about 11:55 p.m. The reason the Focus was traveling in the wrong direction is under investigation.
The driver of the Focus was announced dead on the scene. The man driving the Equinox, a 37-year-old from Bridgeport, Conn., and a passenger, a juvenile male, were uninjured, but another passenger, an adult female, was transported to UMass Medical Center with minor injuries.

The 31-year-old Auburn man driving the Charger was transported to UMass Medical with serious injuries.
The four people in the Terrain, including the male driver from Bridgeport, went to the hospital with a number of injuries.
