That money came as part of a “sleep-a-thon” fundraiser event held by the Westford Waves softball program at the Skinnyschool Fitness Studio.
Members of the program slumbered on behalf of the Wish Project in Lowell, a non-profit group that aids area families in need of furniture, clothing and baby supplies.

This event was one of many service projects done by the Waves as part of their “Waves of Giving” initiative and one of many charity events held at the studio.
“We are thrilled to be able to help contribute towards such a great cause. What an amazing job the Waves players have done,” says Maria Pasquale Marques, owner of Skinnyschool. “We hope to help again next year.”
The Waves players rose close to $11,000 for the Wish Project, specifically their “Beds 4 Kids” program, which helps provide beds for needy Lowell area children.
“What Girl Power!, says Donna Hunnewell from Wish Project Lowell. I am so grateful not to have to tell a mom that we do not have a bed for her child. It breaks my heart. So many people will benefit from this event held by Kris McDermott and these girls. Because of them, 10 kids here in the Merrimack Valley will no longer be sleeping on the floor- they will have beds. I am always so inspired by what kids can accomplish when they have a heartfelt goal. And, they looked like they were having fun dancing under the disco ball when I was there. Thanks to the Skinnyschool Fitness Studio too for the space. What a great workout room. If you choose to sleep on the floor this is the place to do that.”
