2nd Forge Cup Regatta

The Westford-Littleton Crew team hosted Bedford, NH crew at the Second Annual Forge Cup scrimmage at Forge Pond on Saturday April 21. This scrimmage marked the beginning of the Spring 2012 season.
Ten sprint races were held, each boat racing 1400 meters from start to finish. This was the first race for many of Westford-Littleton crew novices.

Westford-Littleton won the Men’s Novice 8 race with a time of 5:23.8 to Bedford’s 5:50.1. Rowing for Westford-Littleton were Greg Sergeant, Matt Lin, Danny Makuch, Adam Keefe, James Whelan, Matt Beardsley, Allan Destochers and Ryan Bell. The boat was coxed by Riann Hale.
Westford-Littleton then won the Men’s Lightweight 4 race with a time of 5:15.3 to Bedford’s 5:34.0. The boat was coxed by Haley Doucette. Rowers were Ben Davis, Dino Ferrini, Peter Cajolet and Jimmy Cummings.

The remaining races were each won by Bedford, with close finishes by the Women’s Novice 8 and the Men’s Varsity 8. Westford-Littleton Head Coach Eddie Bruce presented the Bedford team captains with the Forge Cup. Westford will host again next year in the hopes of bringing the cup home.
Next weekend, Westford-Littleton Crew will participate in the 15th Annual Saratoga Invitational in Saratoga Springs, NY.
