Akerstrom Becomes Eagle Scout

State Representative James Arciero recently attended the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Michael Akerstrom of Westford Boy Scout Troop 95.

Michael was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest award in scouting, on March 17th at the United Methodist Church in Westford.  In order to receive this prestigious designation, a scout must secure 21 merit badges in a number of different areas ranging from government to camping.  Michael completed a total of 26 merit badges.  The final step is the completion of an Eagle Scout project.

Michael’s eagle scout project was the refurbishing and renovation of the flagpole and the surrounding area at the upper playing field at the Abbot School in Westford.

As part of the ceremony, Representative Arciero presented a Massachusetts House of Representatives Citation to the recipients to mark the occasion. Representative Arciero is also an Eagle Scout.
